SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR FUTURE BRIDES

Skincare is the most important thing you should do (beauty wise, of course) as soon as you get engaged. This relates 100% with how your makeup will look on your wedding day. In this post I will share with you a simple 5 step skincare routine.

Most of the times people don’t pay much attention to what there is behind a good makeup application (and yes, makeup is super important on the day) Here is a PRO TIP:

“It does not matter how expensive is your makeup if underneath you have dehydrated, flakey or bad skin”

I know that it takes time, effort and discipline to maintain a good skincare routine for your wedding day, however, I promise that if you follow at least this 5 steps, your skin will look wonderful and radiant on your wedding day  (and will let you use a foundation with less coverage for a more natural look).

Follow this 5 step skincare routine EVERY morning and EVERY night before going to bed, just a few tweaks between them:

(night).  REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP

To correctly remove your makeup you should pick a makeup remover that is gentle with your skin type and that is suitable for the kind of makeup you’re wearing.

Not all makeup removers (such as micellar water) remove heavy makeup (such as waterproof mascara).

Makeup wipes can be harsh on your skin, I recommend using this cleansing oil that will maintain the integrity of your skin barrier.

1. CLEAN

Choose a facial cleanser that is suitable for you skin type. This will help to take away any makeup residue and dirt from the day.

In the morning you don’t really need to use a facial a harsh wash if you did the night before. Gently wash your face with water and a face cloth to remove any sweat from the night and that generally should be enough (even if you have oily skin).

 2. Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin is HIGHLY IMPORTANT, you should include this step once a week or at least once every 2 weeks. If you already have an exfoliating routine then continue with what works for you but if this is new to you I suggest starting with 1 every two weeks and move from there.

I like better and always recommend to use chemical peels like this one (they tend to be more gentle with your delicate skin) rather than physical exfoliators (aka. the ones that have grains on it, leave this for your lips).

Exfoliate lips every 2-3 days. Here’s a homemade recipe for that!

 3. Tone

Toning helps to balance the PH of your skin, close pores, improve blood flow and prepare your skin to receive skincare properly.

This step is essential in your skincare as a bride routine even though is constantly ignored.

Soak a cotton round with it and press it around your face avoiding you eye area (you can also apply it with your hands). You should wait until the toner has dry completely before moving on to the next step.

4. Hidrate

Use a face moisturiser suitable for your skin type, apply to your face AND neck using an upward motion.

Don’t forget to hydrate the skin around your eyes with a special eye-contour cream. This is the most delicate skin in our body and needs SPECIAL CARE. Use your ring finger and apply it with a patting motion to avoid pulling the skin. (we don’t want any future wrinkles).

Apply a hydrating balm to your lips.

5. Wait

It’s important that you wait a few minutes after your skincare routine and before going on top with makeup. Try doing your hair or getting dressed in between.
